Anstruther
is located only 9 miles south of St Andrews on the beautiful coastline
of the East Neuk of Fife. This is a popular spot for visitor for
different reasons and has been attracting visitors here for years,
many of whom return year after year. There are a number of blue
flag beaches within a 15 miles radius, in particular the golden
sands at Elie which is a long slow sloping beach and has the added
feature of Elie Watersports, where you can hire a pedalo, ride the
banana or enjoy a bumpy ride behind a speedboat on a rubber tube.
There are a varied choice of museums and Art gallery and centres
in the area, and if you come during August you can browse exhibitions
at the Pittenweem Arts Festival. The Scottish Fisheries Museum in
Anstruther has grown over the years and attracts visitors all year
round. If you are more energetic there is an astounding 35 golf
courses to choose from within a 20 mile radius, including the Old
Course, Kingsbarns, Balcomie Links and of course Anstruthers' own
9 hole course.
The area is very popular with walkers as there are a number of
coastal walks with breathtaking scenery and also with bird watchers,
with the Isle of May bird sanctuary a short boat trip away.
